Twin Tiers Honor Flight is planning a flight out of the Ithaca airport in late April/early May and would love to have your office and contacts involved. Our website is http://www.twintiershonorflight.org, and we have a facebook page at Twin Tiers Honor Flight with photos of our previous trips at http://www.facebook.com/twintiershonorflight
TTHF is part of the national Honor Flight Network (www.honorflight.org).
We are hoping to take around 60 veterans on a chartered flight (at no cost to the vets) to Washington, D.C. to visit their war memorials and Arlington National Cemetery. We are prioritizing WW II and Korean era veterans, but will take veterans from any time of conflict regardless of where they were stationed.
We also will need guardians, who contribute a tax-deductible fee (most likely around $425) to spend the day with the veterans and care for them during the journey. Organizations often pay on behalf of guardians, and many guardians go more than once.
Volunteers are needed for fundraising events, solicitation of in-kind and monetary donations, tabling, participating in send-off and welcome home ceremonies, and providing assistance in myriad ways. One of our key needs is for volunteers with medical training (first aid/CPR or EMS or military medic training, for example). Medical specialists are needed to make the trips to D.C.
Donations can be made out to Social Ventures Inc. and sent to Twin Tiers Honor Flight, 2735 Slaterville Road, Brooktondale, NY 14817-9507.
Applications for veterans, guardians, and volunteers are all available at our website. They may be printed and mailed, or they can be sent back via e-mail.

Women Veterans – We’ve come a long way!
You are invited to a celebration of life and service for our women veterans who reside at the New York State Veterans’ Home at Oxford.
We are having a gathering for the women veterans at the home on Saturday, 8 November 2014, in the Veterans’ Auditorium from 10 a.m. – 12 noon.
Please come and make their and our day a memorable event. Remember that they are our fore-sisters, who set the standards in pride, honor, and dedication upon which our armed services strive to build. Learn about their lives in the service and share some of your stories.
Please take the time to drive to Oxford on this day of remembrance for them and for us!!!!
Please RSVP to retired Patricia J Cobb, Personnelman Chief Petty Officer, United States Navy at firstname.lastname@example.org or 607-843-6666.
