The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV) is a novel, one-of-a-kind initiative designed to leverage the skills, resources and infrastructure of higher education to offer cuttingedge, experiential training in entrepreneurship and small business management to post-9/11 veterans
with service-connected disabilities and a passion for entrepreneurship. The aim of the program is to open the door to economic opportunity for our veterans by developing their competencies in creating and sustaining an entrepreneurial venture. Cornell’s three-phase program welcomes veteran entrepreneurs who
seek to develop a business within the food and beverage sector of the hospitality industry.

UPCOMING RECRUITMENT EVENTS FOCUSED ON  MILITARY VETERANS

The Recruitment and Employment Center has registered to attend the following recruitment events targeting military veterans to include those with disabilities.  We invite supervisors, managers and other hiring authorities at Cornell to join us at these job fairs.  This can be a great opportunity to recruit a variety of skills and talents from this population that meet your hiring needs, and network with professionals who support and advocate employment on behalf of those who have served protecting our freedom.  Additionally, participating can help expand your outreach to attain goals set forth by Cornell’s strategic plan, Toward New Destinations.   If  you or a representative from your unit or college would like to join us or if you have questions,  please contact Edgar Johnson, ejj33@cornell.edu, 254-3337.

VCNG member elected to Employee Assembly

JERAMY KRUSER

An open and transparent person, Jeramy Kruser speaks his mind and welcomes others to do the same. He served in the Marine Corps before coming to Ithaca and Cornell University, and travelled extensively. He fell in love with the Ithaca area and the people who live and work here. He is currently a member of Team Red, White and Blue and the Cornell Veterans Colleague Network Group and volunteer for the Greater Ithaca Activities Center and STAP AIDS Ride for Life. “I want to cultivate diversity in an equitable and inclusive work environment, and strengthen bonds and communication between faculty, staff and students,” he said.

VCNG Leadership roles available

It is that time when we begin to think about new leadership for the VCNG, as our current members will complete their commitments in June.  If you are interested in taking on a leadership role within the VCNG, please let co-chair Emily Franco know prior to April 20, when we will discuss this topic at our monthly meeting.  The various positions are described in our Charter and any one of our officers will be happy to talk with you more about their duties if you have questions.

We have accomplished many of our original goals and are starting to plan the future direction of our group. We want your input! Please take a few minutes to share how the VCNG can better serve your needs.
